Over the years I’ve read many books, magazine articles and blog posts about women entrepreneurs and I always felt inspired by their journeys. I would save the links of their sites to go back later and learn more. There is something about success stories, that show the courage these women have to get where they are now and I thought others may want to hear that too.
The world of Printables
This is the first post in our monthly series of women like you and me, who have created a successful business from scratch with the tools and skills in their “pocket.”
Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot about making money with printables and I was wondering if it was really possible. A printable is a digital product sold online, where the buyer downloads and prints the file as needed. Why is this such a great product? Because you only create it once and then sell over and over again! What in the world would someone want to buy and print on their own, you ask? You’d be amazed at all the possibilities, but a few examples are: calendars, greeting cards, planners, etc.
The first women entrepreneur I wanted to feature on Grit Webstudio is Sarah Titus who built her business with just that, printables! Life was not easy for Sarah and she shares her life story on her website. I can’t remember how I found Sarah, but her story touched and inspired me. I hope you’ll feel the same way once you learn more about her journey.
The Woman
Sarah Titus, a single mom of two, found herself six years ago, in debt and living in a homeless shelter. After a marriage of more than 10 years, her life had changed drastically and now she had to take care of her kids on her own.
The Motivation
Her strong faith in God kept her going through difficult times. Taking care of the children was her most important mission and because they were very young, she wanted to stay home to care for them. As we all know, a traditional job does not offer that opportunity.
The Opportunities
Sarah tried many things to earn a living. She sold on eBay and Craigslist, started a blog to share her story, created printables to share and set up her own store online with Shopify.
The Purpose
Her success intrigued other women who wanted to know how she did it, so she created tutorials and courses to help others become successful too. She wanted to show that yes, you can stay at home caring for you kids and make a living too.
The Present
Sarah moved from a homeless shelter to a 5-bedroom home. She changed her 80+ hour workdays to working part-time so she can spend more time with her children. Starting with a goal of making $1000 per month from eBay and her blog, Sarah is now making almost $2.5 million a year while working part-time. Wow!
The Quote
There is nothing that can knock you down and defeat you, unless you let it.
The Source
I really like stories like this, when women beat the odds to show the world that it can be done! When we set our mind on something, keeping our eyes on our goals or target, we can do many things! Set your mind to it and go for your own dreams!
